A driver has been freed from a logging truck after crashing off a road in Otago this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene on State Highway One, south of Milton before 7am.
Fire crews - including one carrying specialist heavy duty equipment from Dunedin - were sent to rescue the trapped person.
The Otago Daily Times reported the driver was trapped underneath his vehicle, but was conscious and able to talk to rescue crews.
FENZ shift manager Andrew Norris said he was successfully extricated about two hours after the crash.
The driver has been air-lifted to Dunedin Hospital in a serious condition.
The road is under stop and go management just north of SH8 and motorists are warned to expect delays.
