A person has been shot in an incident in Northcote, Auckland.
A person showed up at North Shore Hospital with a gunshot injury after 7pm, a Police spokesman said.
Police received multiple calls from members of the public in Northcote, saying they heard "multiple gun shots", he said.
The person is currently in a stable condition and police are making inquiries on the circumstances of the shooting.
The shooting took place near Cadness St and armed police have set up a cordon around Cadness Reserve, a park behind the Northcote Library.
A resident on nearby Cadness St told a photographer at the scene, she was in her apartment when they she heard one loud bang.
She then came out onto the footpath to have a look and saw lots of people still gathered in the park.
Police arrived shortly after and began questioning witnesses, she said
Armed police were still standing guard in the neighbouring streets, while the police Eagle helicopter was circling overhead.
The woman said police had told her they would remain at the scene for at least another day.
