The search for missing 14-year-old Wellington girl Violet Cowan is over.
Sergeant Matt Wheble said Violet, who was believed to be wearing only pyjamas, was found safe and well just before 6pm.
Violet went missing from the suburb of Wadestown and police and Search and Rescue spent the afternoon looking for her.
She had last been seen wearing pyjamas.
People who lived in the wider Wadestown area were asked by police around midday to check their properties, including any spaces a person may be able to crawl into.
Wheble said he would like to thank everyone who assisted with information.
"Their help has been enormously appreciated today," he said.
"We'd also like to thank Search and Rescue, Community Patrols New Zealand and Amateur Radio Emergency Communications (AREC)."
The girl was found safe and well and was currently being checked over by ambulance staff.
