The driver of a car which collided with a cattle truck near Rotorua this afternoon has died from her injuries.
The woman was initially trapped in her car following the crash on State Highway 5 north of Rotorua near Ngatira.
It was later confirmed that she had died.
A police media spokeswoman said they were notified by ambulance about the incident about 4.30pm.
The driver was initially reported to have had serious injuries but was conscious.
A rescue helicopter had been called to the scene.
The driver of the truck was out of the truck and not injured.
The truck had cattle on board at the time of the crash, but they weren't believed to have been injured, the spokeswoman said.
The road will be closed until at least 10pm while the scene is examined by the Serious Crash Unit.
