A 37-year-old man has been charged in connection with the shooting in Pukekohe yesterday that left a man in his 50s with a gunshot wound in his leg.
The 37-year-old will appear in the Manukau District Court this morning.
The shooting occurred at a house in Hogan St just after 12.30pm and prompted nearby Paerata School to go into lockdown.
The victim was rushed to hospital.
Police said the injury was not considered to be life-threatening.
Children and teachers at Paerata School were kept in their classrooms as police searched for the gunman.
School principal Luke Thompson said police told them of the need for a lockdown around 1.15pm, but gave no specific reason.
He said police called again just before 2pm to say the school could come out of lockdown, but children and teachers should stay in their classroom until home time.
