Major landslips caused by bad weather conditions have blocked off a well-known farm and tourist attraction in the Ruapehu district.
Blue Duck Station in Owhango, about 20km south of Taumarunui, has been shut off after severe weather ripped through the district yesterday.
Surrounding roads have been closed off thanks to slips in and around the area.
The power is out and there is no water.
Photos and video footage posted to the Blue Duck Station's official Facebook site shows the scale of the damage - with fences brought down and tracks closed off by debris.
"A big destructive storm [came] through yesterday at Blue Duck Station," a man behind the camera says.
"Too much damage to list and we can't even get around most of the stations. Just at the front here, roads out, fences out ... tracks, power, water.
"So we're going to need diggers, fences. I think we'll need a helicopter to fix some of this. Maybe some re-grassing and re-seeding a lot of these slips.
"It's going to be a bit of a major.''
One photo shows a car stuck in thick mud and debris blocking a driveway. The car's wheels have almost completely sunk in.
The photo is accompanied with a message indicating a pregnant woman is among those stuck at the vicinity.
A worker told the Herald just after 1pm that they were waiting for a helicopter to arrive.
"We're just trying to deal with the situation at the moment.''
