Another fire has been found in an under-construction high-rise apartment that was plagued with suspicious fires yesterday.
Northern Fire Communications Centre shift manager Scott Osmond said they had been called to 35 Albert St after a fire was found on top of a stove. He believed it was out and seven fire crews were searching the building to ensure there were no other fires.
Osmond said the building was fully evacuated.
"There were a number of small suspicious fires yesterday and this appears to be possibly connected."
Yesterday, Area Commander Geoff Purcell, said there had been four fires, all on different levels of the building which has more than 30 levels. The fires were put out by automatic sprinklers.
The main contractor for the construction of the building is Naylor Love.
Yesterday, its chief executive, Rick Herd, said sprinklers had been set off maliciously and the police were investigating.
