Police have released the name of the woman who died after being struck by a truck in Hamilton yesterday.
Margaret Elizabeth Stewart, 91, was walking across the traffic-light controlled pedestrian crossing on Ruakura Rd at 11.14am when she was hit by a Toll truck.
Stewart died of her injuries at the scene.
The crash happened outside the Hilda Ross Retirement Village where Stewart was a resident.
Photos from the scene showed Stewart's walker left in the middle of the road.
Toll Group yesterday confirmed one of their trucks had been involved in the crash.
"Toll is deeply saddened to learn of the death of a pedestrian involving a Toll vehicle this morning in Hamilton," a spokesman said.
"Our thoughts are with the victim's family and we offer our deepest condolences. We are fully co-operating with the investigation and offering counselling to support our affected employees."
Police serious crash, commercial vehicle investigation and CIB units are all investigating the crash.
