A man has been arrested and charged after a stabbing overnight in Wellington.
Police were called to reports of two men being stabbed in the suburb of Strathmore, about midnight last night.
Now one of the men who was injured has been charged with injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The arrested man is still undergoing surgery in Wellington Hospital, and is in a serious but stable condition.
Police are treating the second man as the victim of the incident. He is also currently in hospital in a moderate condition.
Detective Senior Sergeant Warwick McKee said the men knew each other. Police originally described the incident as being domestic-related.
A scene examination is taking place today, and detectives will be speaking to witnesses.
"We are currently providing support to our victim and police want to assure the community that police are not looking for anyone else in relation to this particular assault," McKee said.
