A lucky Kiwi could be popping champagne tomorrow night - Lotto's Powerball has rolled over to an eye-watering $35 million.
On Wednesday the $32 million Powerball jackpot wasn't won, meaning the giant new sum is up for grabs.
Lotto spokeswoman Emilia Mazur said there were about a million tickets sold in Wednesday's draw.
"It's too early to say at this stage what ticket sales will be for tomorrow's draw as Saturday is typically our busiest day - but we expect well over a million tickets for tomorrow's draw."
If the jackpot isn't struck on Saturday it will roll over to the following draw on Wednesday.
"The jackpot for the following draw will be announced following the Saturday night draw," Mazur said.
She added the Powerball threshold for a Must Be Won draw was $50 million.
Mid City Lotto & Newsagent manager Sarika Patel said she'd been "very, very" busy on Wednesday ahead of the $32 million draw. Sales picked up again yesterday, when it was "must busier than a normal Thursday".
Patel said she was expecting a lunchtime rush, as a lot of workers in the area would buy a ticket during their break.
"I think when the prize gets this big, a lot of people come in and buy them who don't usually buy them."
Patel said even she might tempted to purchase a Powerball ticket.
"You've gotta be in to win."
While nobody won Powerball on Wednesday, three tickets won the $1 million First Division prize, each taking home $333,333.
The winning tickets were sold at New World Marton in Marton, Katikati Paper Plus and Post Shop in Katikati and Te Anau Four Square in Te Anau.
November 2016 marked Powerball's largest prize at $44 million.
According to Lotto data, one number has proved luckier than others over the past 968 draws. Since 2001 the number "2" has topped the tower 123 times.
