A driver was lucky to escape serious injury when downed power lines sparked a scrub fire.
The crash occurred on State Highway 1, between Pakaraka and Ohaeawai, about 3.30pm on Saturday.
The car rolled and hit a power pole, leaving the pole upright but bringing down power cables. One of the wires dropped on to scrub and long grass where it started a fire.
Police, Kaikohe Fire Brigade and St John Ambulance attended.
A St John spokesman said the driver, an Auckland woman in her mid 30s, was lucky to suffer only minor injuries. She was treated at the scene.
Earlier, about 11am, a head-on smash on Waimate North Rd just as thousands of people were heading to the nearby Bay of Islands P&I Show, caused traffic chaos.
The collision occurred on a bend when one of the two utes involved allegedly crossed on to the wrong side of the road.
One of the injured was understood to be member of the emergency services heading to the show to take part in a display.
Kaikohe Fire Brigade's rescue tender was already at the showgrounds so was able to get to the scene quickly.
Police and St John Ambulance attended, with two patients taken to Bay of Islands Hospital in Kawakawa with minor to moderate injuries.
Both vehicles were written off.
Traffic heading from Kerikeri to the show was turned back and diverted via SH10 and Old Bay Rd until one lane could be reopened.
