Police have yet to find the gun used to kill Greymouth mum Hayley Williams at her home on Sunday afternoon.
A 45-year-old man appeared in the Greymouth District Court yesterday charged with her murder.
He was granted interim name suppression and remanded in custody until November 10 when he will appear in the High Court in Greymouth via audio visual link from the Christchurch High Court.
West Coast police area commander Inspector Mel Aitken said today few details of the state of the inquiry could be released yet.
Williams' Marsden Rd home remains cordoned off while police continue a forensic examination.
Aitken said police werealso searching undisclosed locations across the district, including for the gun.
Police are asking the public for any sightings of a late-1990s silver Honda sedan with mag wheels.
Detective Kirsten Norton said the vehicle was in Marsden Rd and Old Christchurch Rd, Kawhaka, between 3.45pm and 7pm on Sunday, October 22.
"It may have also been seen in the area between these two points, which is commonly known to locals as the Arorangi," Norton said.
Williams died in Marsden Rd and her alleged killer was arrested on the Old Christchurch Rd, between Arahura and Kawhaka.
