A person that flipped their car onto its roof on State Highway 36 has been taken to Rotorua Hospital with moderate injuries.
A police spokesman said they were called to a car on its roof between Jackson Rd and Kaharoa Rd at 9.50am.
A Rotorua Daily Post photographer at the scene said the car was badly damaged with much of the roof caved in and had been taken away by a tow truck.
The road is now cleared and traffic is flowing.
Earlier, other motorists had stopped to help the injured person.
