While a cold southerly blast is set to hit today, yesterday it was fog causing problems in Dannevirke.
Thick fog lying over the town has been more prevalent this year, while in Woodville residents have said it's been the worst fog season in 30 years.
The reason, most believe, is the high moisture level in the ground after a very wet spring, summer and autumn.
Monday's warmer temperatures set the fog in motion once the cooler night air arrived.
And while the fog caused problems for motorists, Dannevirke businesswoman Kathy Massey wasn't safe on foot either.
"I've almost been taken out by a white van which didn't have its lights on," she shouted across High St.
Ms Masseysaid she didn't see the van coming in the fog as she crossed the road.
Police are urging motorists to drive with their lights on when visibility is low.
