Traffic to Auckland Airport is flowing again after a motorcycle crash that seriously injured a man this morning.
Earlier, traffic was banked up to Hillsborough Rd after a motorcyclist came off his bike on the Southwestern Motorway just south of the airport turnoff.
The NZ Transport Agency was warning motorists to "expect long delays" and to consider using alternative routes.
A police spokeswoman said a nurse driving past stopped to help the motorcyclist.
NZ Transport Agency said one southbound lane was blocked on State Highway 20 just after the airport exit.
"This crash is serious and may block lane for some time," the agency tweeted. "Please consider alternative route if possible."
