A busy West Auckland road closed after a gas main ruptured this morning has since reopened.
An Auckland Transport spokesperson said traffic in the area remained heavy and would take time to clear.
Earlier motorists were asked to avoid Te Atatu Rd, between Vera Rd and Royal View Rd, as the gas main was repaired.
Repairs have now been completed and the road reopened just over an hour and a half after the gas main was damaged.
Vector spokeswoman Melanie Tuala said a digger ruptured the main, the second break to its networks in the space of an hour.
The other happened on Walton Rd in Warkworth.
"Emergency services are at both sites and will close the gas off before making the repairs," she said. "No households are affected by gas outages."
"There have been a few hits on our gas network lately and we're reminding people to check before they dig or talk to us if unsure."
She reminded workers to take care and check before digging that they weren't at risk of damaging underground infrastructure.
