One person has been injured in a house fire in Tauranga early this morning.
Three fire trucks and ambulance staff are at the scene, on Cumberland Crescent in Welcome Bay.
Northern Fire Communications shift manager Carren Larking said the house was "well involved" when firefighters arrived shortly before 5.30am.
One person - whose age and gender are not yet known - has been treated for moderate injuries, she said.
A St John spokeswoman confirmed one patient was taken to Tauranga Hospital in a moderate condition.
Fire investigators are now looking into the cause of the blaze.
A resident on the street told the Herald he was woken by fire engines rushing past his house.
"I just walked up the road and saw the flames. Someone got taken away in an ambulance."
