An alleged drunk driver crashed into a home in Christchurch and caused considerable damage early this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Marine Parade, New Brighton, at 4.40am, Fairfax Media reported.
Acting Senior Sergeant Ayson Williams said people who lived at the house have had to find somewhere else to stay.
The 40-year-old driver blew 829mcg of alcohol per litre of breath and was charged with drink driving, Mr Williams said. The limit is 400 mcg.
