A driver was ordered out of his car this morning at gunpoint in dramatic incident on a busy central Auckland street.
Police were seen jumping from vehicles with guns at the ready after an allegedly stolen vehicle was pulled over on Nelson Street.
In a stunning photo taken from a passing vehicle heavily-armed officers are seen surrounding the car with guns pointed at the driver.
The photographer said there was a large amount of traffic on the road when the drama unfolded before him.
"I was following the cars down the hill. Both cars stopped across a lane and officers jumped out guns drawn," the photographer said.
Auckland Inspector Jason Greenhalgh said a person was in custody following the incident.
