A person has been flown to hospital in a serious condition after a car crash at Mangatawhiri in Waikato this morning.
The Westpac Auckland Rescue Helicopter service said an elderly woman in her 80s had lost control on a bend.
Her car crashed into a sign, veered through a fence and came to a stop in a small ditch.
Emergency services attended the crash on the intersection of Pendergrast Rd and State Highway 2 at 11.26am.
The patient had just been rescued from the wrecked car when the rescue helicopter arrived.
The helicopter crew took over treatment and transported her to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
St John said a person involved in the accident was flown by rescue helicopter to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition.
