A teen will appear in court after a dashcam allegedly captured him travelling up the wrong side of a road and then the wrong way round a busy Lower Hutt roundabout.
Wellington district road policing manager, Inspector Mike Wright, said police nabbed the impatient driver after they were contacted by a concerned fellow motorist, who told police he had captured the dodgy driving and identifying details of the offending vehicle on his dashboard camera.
The incident occurred late last week when peak-hour traffic was backed up due to an earlier incident, Mr Wright said.
An 18-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving and will appear in Lower Hutt District Court on April 9.
The man's actions in actions put not only himself, but other road users and pedestrians at risk, Mr Wright said.
"I want to applaud and thank the member of the public who provided us with this footage and reported the incident. We all have a role to play in keeping our roads safe and it is pleasing when members of the public and police can come together to hold dangerous
drivers to account."
The public can report dangerous driving to police by calling 111 or, in non-emergency events, by dialling *555
