A tourist driver is facing two charges of careless driving causing injury after a head-on crash on the Glenorchy-Paradise Rd near Queenstown.
Queenstown Sergeant Keith Newell said the 45-year-old was allegedly driving his rental van round a bend on the wrong side of the road when it collided with an oncoming car at 11.20am yesterday.
The driver of the car, a 45-year-old Queenstown man, suffered cuts and bruises.
One of the van's four occupants, a 15-year-old boy, was knocked out and taken to Lakes District Hospital.
The crash happened on an unsealed section of the road, Mr Newell said.
He would not provide the tourist's nationality.
The man is to appear in the Queenstown District Court on February 9.
