A man has serious facial injuries after a carpark brawl in South Auckland early today.
Counties Manukau police spokeswoman Shelley Nahr said the 38-year-old victim was injured during a brutal clash between two rival groups in a public carpark on Kolmar Rd, Papatoetoe, at about 3am.
He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries to his face.
A Middlemore Hospital spokeswoman said the bashed man was in a serious condition in the intensive care unit.
Police have cordoned off a section of the car park and have it under scene guard.
It's believed the victim's car crashed out of the car park into a nearby walkway.
The vehicle has its windows smashed in and damaged by kick marks.
Ms Nahr said police investigating the vicious assault were appealing for any information about the pre-dawn clash.
People were asked to call the Counties Manukau crime squad on 09 261 1321.
