Middlemore Hospital's main entrance is disgusting, with cigarette butts lying all over the ground and people smoking where there are smoke-free signs. Middle-more, clean up your act.

Returning to collect a dumped box bed spotted on my early morning walk, I was disappointed to find it already loaded on to an Auckland Council truck. I had planned to use it to grow veges with my grandson. The friendly driver insisted on driving it to my house nearby and carrying it in for me. I hope you enjoy the lemon curd!

I'm a concerned father, especially after hearing that schoolchildren and teenagers are organising fights via social media. What's next for them? Organised crime? We're making sure we educate our children about the dangers of social media and new technology.

I'd just like to thank the very kind couple who bought my two under-5s a lollipop to put through the window when I accidentally locked them in the car with the keys in it! Also thanks to the couple trying to help me unlock it while waiting for the AA to arrive. A stressful and potentially dangerous situation was made easier by your kind actions.

What's the right etiquette for exiting a train at Britomart? Twice now, while exiting, I've had to squeeze past those wanting to jump on! The people wanting to board will not make way for you! Most times, especially around the afternoon rush, I have to squeeze through just to make it out of the train.

Congratulations to the organisers, volunteers (many of them teens) and traffic management staff for the wonderful work you did to make Saturday's Lydiard Legend Marathon such a great experience. Thank you, too, to the coffee drinkers in Titirangi for the enthusiastic encouragement, and to the considerate drivers who gave us room to move, especially on Godley Rd where we had to run on the shoulder. To the Onehunga High students who participated and then gave a performance at the finish, you did your school proud. It was a day to remember. Thank you from a 21.1km participant.
