There is growing concern for the welfare of a man who is avoiding police.
Jahdai Brice Kennard, 28, has a warrant out for his arrest, and police also wish to speak to him in relation to a pursuit and firearms incident in Motueka last Thursday.
Ford William Hurinui, 27, underwent surgery after he was shot by police during the incident.
Hurinui allegedly aimed a gun at officers and failed to surrender following a small pursuit through Motueka.
Detective Inspector Kevin Burke said police were extremely grateful for the support and information received over recent days from the Motueka community in regards to Kennard's whereabouts.
Police have located a green BMW which Kennard had been known to use, Mr Burke said.
"We've had a lot of people come forward with information and the members of the public we have spoken with in relation to our inquiries have been very cooperative."
However, no sightings of Kennard had been confirmed to date, and Mr Burke said police had concerns for his welfare.
Mr Burke warned members of the public not to approach Kennard.
Despite this, he said he did not have any immediate fears for the Motueka community as a result of him being on the run.
Anyone with information that could help police locate Kennard, was asked to call Motueka Police on 03 528 1220, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
