An Auckland street put into lockdown by armed police this morning has been re-opened.
Terry St in Blockhouse Bay, east of Auckland city, was cordoned off and residents warned to stay indoors by armed police about 11.30am.
A police spokeswoman said reports of a man threatening a woman sparked the incident.
"The man alleged to have threatened a woman earlier this morning was not located at the address but inquiries into his whereabouts are continuing," the spokesperson said.
"It's unclear at this stage whether the man sought by police committed any offence so there is no warrant for his arrest in relation to today's events."
There were early reports of a large police presence and armed officers in the area.
Earlier today, the Auckland City Police Twitter account posted a tweet that read: "Police at an alleged armed incident in Blockhouse Bay - parts of Terry St cordoned off. AOS staff en route. Residents advised to stay indoors."
