Two men will appear before the Christchurch District Court today facing charges of unlawful possession of firearms.
The 38-year-old men were arrested after Canterbury Police executed a series of search warrants on a car and at three addresses in Christchurch, two in Waddington and one in Kaiapoi, last Thursday afternoon and evening.
A 22-year-old woman was also arrested for a warrant to arrest and will appear before the court today.
The search warrants were carried out in an effort to disrupt the supply of methamphetamine in Canterbury.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Cottam, from Canterbury's Organised Crime Unit, said a number of items were recovered during the searches.
"Officers recovered two sawn off shotguns, ammunition, methamphetamine and cash from the vehicle and four of the properties. The two other properties have been secured and guarded overnight ready to be searched today."
Mr Cottam said the recovery of two sawn off shotguns was disturbing and illustrated the dangers associated with methamphetamine dealing.
"Further charges may be laid due to the nature of the items found during the search."
