A man has been arrested following a report of a 'Peeping Tom' entering a Christchurch house where a teenager was home alone.
The teenager told police an intruder with minor injuries entered the home in the Redwood area of the city around 10pm on Saturday.
The teen was not harmed during the intrusion, police said.
After a short search an injured man was located at a nearby property, police said.
A 24-year-old man will appear in Christchurch District Court today on charges of burglary and peeping and peering.
Detective Senior Sergeant Jason Stewart praised the teenager for "doing the right thing".
"The teenager's quick thinking and 111 call ultimately led to police locating a person of interest a short time later," he said.
"We recommend anyone facing a similar situation calls 111 immediately."
Investigations into the incident were on-going, and Mr Stewart asked anyone who had seen or heard anything suspicious in the northern part of the Redwood suburb in the last month to contact police 03 363 7400 or anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
