A Taiwanese visitor who drowned at a Central Otago lake last week has today been named by police.
I-Ching Cheng, 26, failed to surface when she went for a swim at Lake Dunstan at Deadman's Point, Cromwell about 4pm on Friday.
Her body was found later that day.
Miss Cheng had been travelling on a working holiday throughout New Zealand with her sister for the past year.
Today Sergeant Simon Paget of Cromwell Police said that family members are en route from Taiwan.
Miss Cheng's sister is being supported by friends, police and Victim Support.
Police say that no further information will be released about Miss Cheng's death as the matter is now in the hands of the coroner.
