Homicide detectives are appealing for information following the death of a 49-year-old Porirua man yesterday.
Bruce Maurice Coker died in Wellington Hospital early yesterday morning after sustaining injuries in Linden, Tawa, last Saturday evening.
His post-mortem examination was completed yesterday evening.
Wellington Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Ferguson said while most peoples' thoughts at this time of year were focused on celebrating Christmas and spending time with loved ones, Mr Coker's whanau were preparing to bury their much loved family member.
"Our thoughts are with Bruce and his whanau at this time, as they begin to gather to farewell him.
"There are people out there who have information that can assist police and the Bruce's family in establishing what has happened. These people are encouraged to come forward, and do the right thing by the family and the community."
