A 13-year old exchange student who was struck by a car after getting off the school bus yesterday remains in a critical condition today.
The Lincoln High School student received serious head injuries in the incident on State Highway One between the intersection of Curraghs Rd and Weedons Ross Rd at 3.55pm.
The driver of a dark silver/grey Mazda saloon was uninjured.
The car was towed away for examination by Canterbury Police's serious crash unit.
The boy was taken to Christchurch Hospital in a critical condition with serious head injuries.
A spokeswoman for the Canterbury DHB today said the youngster remained in a critical condition in the intensive care unit.
Police investigations into the crash are continuing and they appealed for any witnesses to the crash to contact them on (03) 347 9248 and leave a message.
