Two owners of a Waikato hotel were assaulted and tied up by robbers who threatened them and stole cash from their business.
The owners of the Pirongia Hotel were tidying up after midnight when two men entered the hotel, police said.
The two men threatened them, assaulted them and tied them up in an office in the hotel.
Police said the men stole a quantity of cash and then fled the scene -- leaving the hotel owners tied up in the office.
One of the owners was able to get to a phone and call police, while still tied up.
Both victims received minor injuries, police said.
Police were carrying out a forensic examination at the scene this morning.
The two robbers were described as both male of medium build. The older robber was wearing a dark jacket over a grey hoodie, and the younger was wearing a fluorescent pink t-shirt over a dark hoodie and a cap.
Police have asked for help from the public to identify the two robbers, and urged anyone with information to call Hamilton Police on 07 858 6200.
