An Auckland man accused of murdering his friend has been declared fit to plead.
Psychiatric assessments have determined Byron James Armstrong, 24, is able to face prosecution over allegations he killed his friend Henry Pan, 24, in February last year.
The Manukau District Court was told today that Armstrong was in the Mason Clinic, where health professionals had assessed him.
The case has now been moved to the High Court at Auckland, where he will appear next month.
Pan, a 24-year-old student, was stabbed to death in his Half Moon Bay home.
It's alleged that after the death, Armstrong went to his home, where he lived with his parents, before heading back out in his car and crashing into a house.
Armstrong's name was suppressed until today.
