Police have released the name of a man who died after a three-car collision south of Levin yesterday.
He was Graham William Perry, 76, of Levin.
The crash happened on State Highway 1 at Ohau just after 2.15pm, Senior Sergeant Kris Burbery said yesterday.
Initial inquiries suggested a north-bound Toyota Hilux had crossed the centre line and crashed into a south-bound Suzuki Swift before colliding with a BMW that the deceased was driving, he said.
Four people were involved in the crash - two in the BMW and one each in the Swift and Hilux.
"The BMW driver was airlifted to Wellington hospital but died shortly after arriving," Mr Burbery said.
Two others suffered moderate injuries and were taken to Palmerston North Hospital.
The forth person received minor injuries.
Police still wanted to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash or who has any information.
They were asked to call Palmerston North police on (06) 351 3600 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
