A fire has caused major damage to a residential property in Auckland.
Fire communications central shift manager Scott Osmond said emergency services were alerted to the blaze on Sorrell Crescent, Bucklands Beach shortly after 7pm.
One person was inside the house when the fire broke out, and they had to evacuate, he said.
The house was well involved when firefighters arrived. There would be "major damage,'' Mr Osmond said.
Three appliances had been called, and the Fire Service was still on site. Ambulance also attended and said there were "no patients''.
A second fire in Onehunga about an hour later also required attendance from the Fire Service.
Mr Osmond said the blaze was in an industrial area of the suburb, and was at a derelict house.
It was not as serious as the Bucklands Beach incident, he said.
