A woman was stabbed twice after a domestic dispute with her former partner.
Detective Greg Turner of the Tauranga police said officers were investigating the incident which happened at Donovan St in Te Puke.
Mr Turner said a 25-year-old unemployed Te Puke man was arrested this afternoon in relation to the stabbing which happened about 9.30pm last night.
"The female victim received two stab wounds to the chest and contusions, bruises and swelling about her face and head. The injuries are not considered life-threatening," he said.
Mr Turner said police were searching for a filleting knife and a set of house and car keys which are believed to have been discarded in the Te Puke area.
He said the man took the woman's car which was found in Gordon Rd this morning.
Police want to talk to anyone who may have seen a silver station wagon in Te Puke last night between 9.30pm and midnight.
The man is expected to appear in the Tauranga District Court tomorrow.
