It was a Kiwi summer wedding that could only be described as classic.
Broadcaster and columnist Kerre Woodham married her long-term partner Tom McIvor in an intimate ceremony yesterday before heading to the beach for fish and chips.
The vows were exchanged at a family bach on the Coromandel Peninsula, near Whitianga.
The celebrant was former TV weather girl Kay Gregory and about 40 family and friends attended.
Woodham ordered fish and chips and champagne on the beach after the wedding and did it in style - with boxes of Bollinger trucked in.
She said many of those attending were friends or former colleagues of Sir Paul Holmes and it was likely he would steal the show during the speeches. "There's no surprise there," she said.
"Everyone had said their goodbyes. We'll reconvene at the funeral." Woodham was married in a Tanya Carlson dress created over three days this week. "It's just beautiful, I was so excited when I picked it up." She said having it made this week was stressful, but it avoided worries about a weight-loss programme.
The broadcaster proposed to Tom McIvor - known in her columns as The Irishman - on February 29 last year, taking advantage of the leap year custom when women can propose to men.
NZ Woman's Weekly will have full coverage of the wedding next weekend.
