The former manager of a Whangarei Christian store found guilty of stealing more than $11,000 has been jailed for two and a half years.
Karen Quinn, 43, was found guilty by a jury in the Whangarei District Court in October to 42 counts of theft by a person in a special relationship.
She stole about $11,000 over a six-month period from the end of 2009 to early 2010 while employed as manager for the Manna Christian Store in central Whangarei.
The court heard that Quinn - who was responsible for banking the store's cash takings - had spent money at a Paihia resort, on a limousine, gifts and spa packages.
Quinn was sentenced today by Judge Graham Hubble.
"The store was run by trusting people and they set themselves up as an easy target by the likes of you,'' the judge said.
