Police are looking for two men who allegedly raped a woman after her car broke down in Nelson.
The woman, who is in her early 40s, was travelling in a red Toyota when it broke down on Ngawhatu Rd on Saturday.
She was walking along the road when a car with four people inside stopped nearby, police said.
Tasman District Police spokeswoman Barbara Dunn said two men allegedly got out of the car and raped the woman.
"The woman has then walked home and called police."
Ms Dunn said the attack happened between 9pm and 1am on Saturday or Sunday morning.
There was no description of the attackers or their car, she said.
It was not known what the other two people in the car had done during the attack.
Police have appealed for sightings of four people inside around the area of Ngawhatu Rd, either in a car or on foot.
