The woman who was shot in the head in Auckland on Saturday remains in intensive care.
A spokeswoman for Counties Manukau District Health Board said she is in a serious but stable condition at Middlemore Hospital.
She was earlier in a critical condition.
The woman needed surgery to remove the bullet from her skull after an incident at a home on Druces Rd, Manukau about 1.30am on Saturday.
A 60-year-old man with name suppression appeared in the Manukau District Court this morning.
His appearance in court was brief and he was remanded in custody until July 4.
He has been charged with common assault, although police have indicated more charges are likely.
