Police are hunting for a man with crooked, yellowing teeth after a teenage girl was indecently assaulted in Upper Hutt on Sunday afternoon.
Detective Sergeant Richard Orr, of Upper Hutt police, said the incident happened after the girl was approached by the man at the Silverstream Railway Station about 2pm.
"Luckily the victim managed to run away and the offender chased her for a short distance before running off," Mr Orr said.
"We are still very keen to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Silverstream Railway Station who either witnessed the incident or saw the offender."
The alleged offender was a European man of medium build, aged about 50, with brownish hair, bright blue eyes and crooked, yellowing teeth.
He was wearing jeans, faded brown sandals, a black hooded top and a faded grey baseball cap with the word "GREGG" written in red across the front.
The man also carrying a dirty black backpack.
