Police have lifted a cordon around a Hamilton shopping centre following the discovery of a suspicious parcel this morning.
A Frankton bank was evacuated and the shopping area cordoned off after the parcel was found in Commerce St, at 11am.
People within a 100 metre radius were evacuated for four hours, said Senior Sergeant Andrew O'Reilly.
"The bomb disposal technicians have taken the parcel away for forensic examinations and inquiries are continuing," Mr O'Reilly told NZPA.
The area opened to the public around 3pm, he said.
