A cafe manager needed surgery after driving a moped into a parked 4x4 vehicle yesterday morning.
The 27-year-old was taken to Auckland hospital with serious facial injuries after crashing into the parked Jeep in Green Bay, West Auckland.
The man, from Titirangi, hit the back of the truck, shattering the window.
The scooter belongs to Kohu Road Ice Cream owner Greg Hall who said the man was the manager of his new cafe in New Lynn.
"He's in hospital having surgery. He has broken bones but it's not life-threatening.
"He borrowed it [the scooter] because his car was in the garage. I'm just glad he's okay."
A resident of the street where the incident occurred said she heard a loud bang followed by sirens.
