Police and fire safety officers are investigating a fatal blaze on Auckland's North Shore today.
Firefighters were sent to the building on East Coast Road in Browns Bay after numerous calls to emergency services about 4.50pm.
The three-level 20mx30m building was well ablaze and one person was confirmed dead.
A northern fire communications spokesman told NZPA police and fire safety officers had begun an investigation.
He could not say if the blaze was suspicious or if anyone else was in the building when the fire broke out.
