Invercargill police are seeking help from the public to catch three men responsible for viciously beating a 49-year-old man in front of his 10-year-old son on Wednesday.
The masked trio, armed with weapons including possibly a pistol, knocked on the door of the victim's house in suburban Glengarry about 8pm, then attacked him when he opened it.
The man was hospitalised but had since been released. The boy was not harmed but a dog was seriously injured in the attack.
Police had interviewed both the victim and his son and were following leads, Senior Sergeant Maggie Windle told NZPA this afternoon.
"We're still very interested in receiving any information that anyone may be able to give us."
No arrests had been made, she said.
The trio's car was described as a white Japanese two-door, possibly with a spoiler and a blue or green stripe down the back.
