Police are hoping the good behaviour at this weekend's Beach Hop in Whangamata continues as people head home.
Around 70,000 people have been visiting the Coromandel township for the classic car event.
Police spokesman Andrew McAlley says people will have to be patient on the roads.
He says many people have arrived and had a great time but all now need to share the same roads heading home so motorists must drive to the conditions.
Mr McAlley says overall the rain had a calming affect on the crowds.
Only a few arrests were made for breaches of the liquor ban and disorder.
