A Moerewa meatworker sacked for having dirty boots was justifiably dismissed and had "scant regard" for hygiene standards, the Employment Relations Authority has ruled.
Joseph Richards took Affco to the authority claiming he was unjustifiably dismissed and suffered disparity of treatment when he was sacked from Moerewa meatworks in July 2009.
However, authority member Eleanor Robinson found against Mr Richards, who said he was considering an appeal.
"I'll probably go down in the record books as the only person ever sacked for having dirty boots." He would not comment further.
