Teresa McLean, 40, worked as a nurse at The Clinic, a medical centre in the CTV building and died when it collapsed in the earthquake.
Originally from Great Britain, Teresa was a New Zealand citizen and lived in Kaiapoi.
Following the disaster, friends left messages of support on Facebook for her husband Alistair and their nine-month-old and two-year-old sons, who were staying with Teresa's parents in Hawarden, north of Christchurch.
Others wrote about their love for Teresa and expressed their disbelief.
Mr McLean posted a message thanking them and said he had been overwhelmed by the support.
"My wife Trees means the whole world to me. When I first met her I said I am going to marry this lovely lady and I was so lucky that I did!" he wrote.
