Kaikoura police investigating a New Year's Day sexual attack on a woman in the town say they are working through information coming in from the public.
The woman, a visitor to the town, told police she was attacked in West End between 1am and 3am on Saturday while walking back to where she was staying. She was allegedly grabbed from behind, pulled in to a car park and sexually assaulted.
Sergeant Barry Hansen told NZPA that inquiries were continuing and "we've still got information coming in".
The victim was traumatised by the attack, although she was not physically injured, Mr Hansen said.
She was being cared for by family in her home town.
