Two 15-year-old boys have been arrested in police raids on two Gisborne houses this morning and charged over a vicious assault on a man in the city last weekend.

The 41-year-old victim remains in a stable condition after suffering facial, rib and head injuries in an unprovoked attack which took place in a city park last Saturday morning.

Detective Sergeant Kevin Ford said police were pleased to have made early arrests in the case.

The youths will appear in the Gisborne District Court today charged with causing grievous bodily harm and aggravated robbery.
